  1. Research some data warehouse vendors and obtain information about their products. Download a demo or two and try them and describe your learning experience and review of this products.
  2. Download an information visualization tool, such as Tableau, QlikView, or Spotfire. If your school does not have an educational agreement with these companies, then a trial version would be sufficient for this exercise. Use your own data (if you have any) or use one of the data sets that comes with the tool (they usually have one or more data sets for demonstration purposes). Study the data, come up with a couple of business problems, and use data and visualization to analyze, visualize, and potentially solve those problems.
  3. Important Note: With limited time for a college class, perfection is not expected but effort to be exposed to various tools with attempts to learn about them is critical when considering a career in information technology associated disciplines.

After addressing the problems, conclude your paper with details on how you will use this knowledge and skills to support your professional and or academic goals. 1. the decision making process requires you to ask questions within yourself. Why am I doing this? Why am I doing it this way? If it’s deciding what my major in college will be we have to first ask ourselves how this will benefit us in the short term and the long term. Using this example for myself, my current major is Fire Science. When I first registered for college my major was Public Safety but reviewing my employers requirements for promotional opportunities I changed it. Researching the credits I previously had I needed to change my major to Fire Science so I would be eligible for my next promotional exam. (short term). Looking forward, a degree in Public Safety will open up employment opportunities when my fire department career is over. So I will most likely change my major or add it to the current to achieve that goal. (long term). In the movie The Blind Side Michael had to make a decision on which college he wanted to attend. His parents had their choice and he felt very influenced by that but ultimately it was his choice on what the best fit for his future would be. He struggled with this and had conversations with Miss Sue and others. Also Leigh Anne had her own choices to make whether to bring Michael into her family knowing that it could be a struggle for everyone.
