UNICEF’s contribution to Public Health and Safety UNICEF is committed to ensuring that children have access to quality healthcare and nutrition. The organization has played a significant role in reducing the global child mortality rate by providing vaccination programs and breastfeeding support, and providing water and sanitation services to children. UNICEF played an important role in managing global pandemics, such as COVID-19. It supported the governments to implement preventive health measures and provided critical supplies to healthcare workers.
UNICEF’s work in health is not the only focus of UNICEF. UNICEF also works to protect children from violence and exploitation. UNICEF has been active in ending child marriage, child labour, and trafficking and supported programs to prevent and address gender-based violence.
Promotion of Equal Opportunity UNICEF works towards equal education access and discrimination protection for all children. The UNICEF supports initiatives that increase education access, particularly for women, and works to end gender inequalities. UNICEF advocates for children with disabilities, and helps to ensure that education is more accessible.
UNICEF is also a key player in the promotion of rights for children who have been displaced by conflict, natural disasters or other circumstances. UNICEF provided vital services like education, healthcare and protection to children who were in difficult situations.
