If I were the employee receiving this difficult feedback, I would feel frustrated and confused by my colleague’s script. This script is too harsh. There are no concrete suggestions for improving. While constructive criticism can be helpful. Furthermore, there is an implication that the employee has been deliberately disregarding work rules despite being previously reminded – which implies a lack of trust and respect from the manager. Additionally, by focusing solely on “wrong doings” rather than providing suggestions for how to rectify the situation or support for doing so shows insensitivity towards their individual needs.
As a result, I was disappointed in the way my manager communicated their feedback. I felt unsupported and valued while they did not convey effectively. This might lead me to question whether or not this was an isolated incident or part of a larger pattern of behavior – making me question my place within the organization.
