Promotion of health: Lung cancer for smokers, diabetes in older men
My program for health promotion would be focused on improving the availability of nutritious food choices to my community’s most vulnerable residents. This goal will be achieved by working with local markets and businesses that offer fresh, affordable produce to ensure that these products are available in places that have limited access. In addition, I plan to create an education campaign that teaches people nutrition and why it’s important to have a balanced diet. This initiative will educate people on healthy eating habits and provide them with resources.
Program activities will include cooking classes and demonstrations that promote healthy cooking, as well as workshops on nutrition labels and ingredient lists. To encourage more retailers to participate in the program, I intend to offer incentives such as freebies or discounts for stores that are participating. My program will increase access to nutritious food for my most vulnerable community members by combining these strategies with the long-term monitoring and analysis of health outcomes.
