Assignment 4.1 Motivation and motivation strategies
Though motivation theory can broadly be classified as intrinsic or extrinsic depending on the perspective, other viewpoints have emerged in recent times. An intrinsic motivation can be defined as the desire or drive within to accomplish tasks you find interesting or fulfilling. This type of motivation often comes from a sense of accomplishment or pride in one’s work and does not rely on external rewards for satisfaction. On the other side, extrinsic motivation refers to behaviors that are driven by external factors like money or recognition.
In addition to these two categories there are also theories which focus on self-determination such as goal setting theory where individuals set specific goals they want to achieve while others focus on social contexts like Self-Determination Theory which examines how certain relationships influence an individual’s drive or determination. Newer theories, like purposeful motivating orientations, focus on complex concepts. They consider the ways in which motivations may change with time and how they can be affected by life events.
