Disaster planning for public health – no copying or plagiarism
My community’s vulnerability to disasters will depend on its geographical location. Some areas are more vulnerable than others. My community, for example, is vulnerable to flooding because of its position on the California coast. This includes high tide events and hurricanes. A serious threat to this region is earthquakes due to active seismic activity.
The community I live in is near major water bodies, which can increase the risk of oil spillages or other hazardous material emissions from ships. This could have a negative impact on both ecological and human health. Wildfires may also occur in hot, dry summers when strong winds blow quickly. These wildfires can cause extensive property damage and destruction.
It is important to be able to identify the most common threats to my area so we can plan ahead, create contingency plans, and ensure safety in times of emergency. By having an idea of what disasters may strike our area we can better plan ahead so that if something does happen it won’t be completely unexpected.
