Both solution-focused therapy or cognitive behavioral therapy can be used to assist families in dealing with difficult situations. However, each individual’s needs will determine the effectiveness of the approach. Solution-focused therapy focuses on identifying positive aspects within an individual’s life while encouraging them to set achievable goals in order to move forward, making it particularly well suited for those who need short-term assistance with addressing certain issues such as communication difficulties.
Cognitive behavioral therapy, on the other hand, is better for dealing with people suffering from addiction or mental illness. This type of treatment helps individuals to recognize and address how their behavior and thoughts can lead to distress. Both approaches are beneficial for analysing family dynamics. However, practitioners should take the time to determine which approach is best suited to their particular situation before suggesting any intervention to ensure maximum results.
