Decision tree for neuro- and musculoskeletal disorders | NURS 6521 – Advanced Pharmacology | Walden University
My decision to reduce funding for public transport in order to increase police presence was another one that produced unexpected results. This seemed to be a good way to increase street security. However, it was not an easy decision to make. It led to higher crime rates because fewer people have reliable transport options, making them more likely to become criminal targets. This is a reminder about how complicated and difficult social problems are and the importance of careful thought when attempting to find a solution.
Overall, while some of my decisions resulted in outcomes approximating what I expected them too, others produced completely unexpected results – demonstrating just how difficult predicting long-term impacts can be when it comes to tackling complex social issues such as those presented here. Leaders involved in problem solving or policy formulation such as this need to consider all possible outcomes before they decide on a plan of action. This will ensure that the best solutions are created for all stakeholders and avoid unintended consequences.
