Walden University| NURS 5051 – Transforming Nursing and Healthcare Through Technology | Walden University
First, the study looked at how a HIE affects patient care and outcomes. The results showed that the implementation of this system led to improved patient satisfaction, shorter wait times, fewer medication errors, and increased efficiency in terms of time and costs—all of which can ultimately lead to better overall outcomes.
A second study was done to examine the impact of electronic health record (EHR), on quality of care, and its use. The study found that it not only reduced the paperwork, but it also gave physicians more up-to date information which allowed them to make better decisions about treatment options. The increased availability of medical records led to nurses feeling more involved with patients, which resulted in higher levels of compliance.
Third, we discussed the possibility of computerized doctor order entry (CPOE). This allows doctors to electronically enter orders without having to worry about transcription errors. Moreover, it highlighted different ways this technology could be implemented such as providing alerts or reminders when prescribing drugs so that practitioners are aware if there are any potential interactions or allergies involved—ultimately helping create safer environments for both patients and healthcare providers alike.
