Proposal for Capstone Project Change. By 1/26
Summary:
This change proposal was presented to decrease patient fall in hospital settings by implementing hourly rounds with purposeful interactions. This presentation included statistical data and evidence-based research to support the proposal.
To better explain the statistics, the preceptor suggested that the presentation include more visual aids. Also, the presentation was modified to provide more details about the process of implementation and the roles played by each healthcare professional during the execution.
By allowing feedback and input from various healthcare professionals (including nurses and physicians), the interprofessional collaboration made the presentation more effective. The diverse viewpoints of these professionals helped identify possible challenges and potential solutions for the intervention.
During the presentation the audience had questions for and feedback about the proposal. These concerns included staffing issues and work load, as well as the necessity of ongoing evaluation to determine the effectiveness and sustainability of the intervention. These concerns were addressed by the presenter, who provided examples of success in similar hospitals. He also stressed the need for ongoing modification and evaluation to make sure the intervention is sustainable.
I believe that the presentation of the proposed change to an interprofessional audience gave valuable insights about the complex healthcare system and how collaboration and communication are essential for implementing successful interventions. Future practice will be informed by the feedback received and the questions posed by the audience. They also highlight the importance of ongoing evaluation to improve any intervention.
