Week 2 Assignment: Searching and evaluating scientific or/and/or technological information
To find scholarly, peer-reviewed research articles on your topic, start by using the databases available through your school’s library website. JSTOR and PubMed are popular databases that can be used for academic research. ScienceDirect is also a good option. You can also use Google Scholar to search for articles, but be sure to access them through your library’s website to ensure they are peer-reviewed and credible.
When evaluating sources, consider the author’s credentials, the publication or journal in which the article appears, the date of publication, and whether the article has been peer-reviewed. This checklist is part of the WCU Library Research Basics Handbook.
Briefly summarize each article that you have found. This should include the key points and conclusions. Based on these criteria, tell why you think the source is reliable. Then, describe how you believe the article can help address your issue or problem, including providing statistics or supporting your argument.
Use in-text citations to all sources. Format your references in the current APA format. Have fun with your research.
