My philosophy on nursing also emphasizes the fact that nurses are a continuous learning experience. Nurses must keep up to date with current research in order to offer the best care possible to patients. Nursing requires a dedication to learning, continuing education and professional development.
Additionally, nursing should be viewed as a team effort. This means that nurses must work with patients, families and any other health care providers. To ensure the best possible outcomes for patients, effective communication, teamwork and interdisciplinarity are essential. I believe in working closely with other members of the healthcare team to ensure that the patient’s care is coordinated, efficient, and effective.
A nurse must also be culturally competent to provide quality care. Respecting the culture and beliefs of patients and their families is a requirement. This allows me to provide culturally appropriate and sensitive care, as well as tailoring my care to meet their needs.
