The foundational questions in Christian spirituality and ethics
- My worldview defines spirituality as a foundational aspect of human existence. This includes the non-physical parts of our being such our beliefs, values, purpose and life goals. Spirituality can refer to a deeper connection with an entity greater than us. It can also be understood through philosophical or religious perspectives. Because it recognizes interdependence between the spiritual, physical and emotional aspects of each individual, spirituality I think is important in healthcare. I would consider spirituality a part of my patient care. This means that I will respect and acknowledge the different spiritual beliefs and practices and incorporate them in their care plans as needed.
- Topic readings that focus on healing and disease in healthcare I find particularly intriguing. They explore both the complexity and factors that lead to healing. Readings on healing in healthcare provide an extensive analysis of social, cultural and psychological factors that influence disease and healing. These aspects are often ignored by traditional medical methods. I agree with the authors’ view that illness is not solely a biological phenomenon but also influenced by social and cultural factors. The readings emphasize the importance of a holistic approach to healthcare that considers not only the physical symptoms of the disease but also the patient’s psychological and spiritual well-being. This approach aligns with my own beliefs as a healthcare provider, and I believe that it is essential to address all aspects of a patient’s health in order to promote healing and optimal health outcomes.
