Data Source 1: National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES).
- Data type: Survey data
- Description: This is a program of studies that the National Center for Health Statistics has conducted to determine the health and nutrition status of children and adults in America. The program includes interviewing, tests in the laboratory, and physical exams.
- You can use the Report to get data about your health, behaviors and risk factors for developing chronic diseases.
Data Source 2 – Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project
- Data Type: Administrative data
- Description: A family of databases, software tools, and related products developed through a federal-state-industry partnership for the purpose of analyzing health care utilization and costs.
- Access the report: This provides data regarding hospitalizations, emergency room visits and ambulatory surgeries.
Data Source 3 – Medicare Current Beneficiary Survey, (MCBS).
- Data type: Survey data
- Description: Continuous, multipurpose surveys of a representative national Medicare population. It gathers information about health status and health care expenditures.

Data Source 4: Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, (BRFSS).
- Type of data: Survey data
- Description: This system collects data on state-based health surveys, including information about health risk behavior, health prevention practices and access to health care.

Data Source 5: National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH)
- Data type: Survey data
- Description: This survey collects data on children’s physical, emotional and health and their quality of care.
- Use in Report: Provides data on children’s health status, health care access, and quality of care.
