Each organization I looked at had different approaches to sustainability. A company for instance implemented a program to decrease the amount of trash generated in their stores by improving packaging, recycling, and composting. Another company set up a system that tracked greenhouse gas emissions in their plants so they could identify potential opportunities.
Another company invested in wind and solar power to supply its electricity, as well as clean energy for the grid. A third company looked for suppliers that use recycled materials and have responsible manufacturing processes to create products.
The organizations are a good example of how sustainability can be integrated in business without losing profitability or service quality. They can make sure that they are less harmful to the environment and help preserve natural resources for future generations.
