Health education in health promotion
The nursing process is used to develop health education by assessing individual patient’s needs and creating interventions that are tailored to their specific situation. This includes conducting a comprehensive assessment of the person’s lifestyle, medical history, physical condition, family and cultural background in order to understand what kind of information is most relevant for them.
Once they have collected this information, nurses are able to spot any knowledge gaps or encourage behavior change with educational materials like brochures/factsheets; lectures on health; activities and discussions; as well as hand-on resources.
All these components help provide patients with an understanding of how they can take a proactive role when it comes managing their own health enabling long-term changes versus short term solutions – ultimately leading better outcomes within healthcare overall.
