Topic 2: Current trends in nursing practice
Collaboration between healthcare professionals can reduce mistakes, improve quality, and enhance safety. It also fosters a patient-centered environment. By working collaboratively with other healthcare members from different disciplines such as physicians, nurses, pharmacists etc., – the chances of communication breakdowns or misunderstandings due to lack specialist expertise are greatly diminished .
Additionally this leads to more comprehensive assessments/treatment plans that take into account various perspectives – resulting in better outcomes for patients (reducing misdiagnoses/duplicated services). Engaging all members involved in decision making process also ensures any identified risks are dealt with more quickly while addressing individuals’ needs across multiple domains thus ensuring proper follow up measures put place when necessary.
Interprofessional collaboration is a great way to improve quality control across the entire healthcare system. This ultimately leads to improved patient experience and staff satisfaction.
