Assessment of the abdomen | NURS 6512 – Advanced Health Assessment and Diagnostic Reasoning | Walden University
Physical exams that would be appropriate to gather more information about the patient’s condition include a general physical exam, neurologic exam, mental status evaluation and physical fitness tests. These exams can uncover hidden health problems and give clues about the causes of any symptoms or behaviours.
Additional diagnostic tests may be required, such as blood/urine testing, brain imaging (CT/MRI), and genetic testing, to determine the cause of an illness. The results of these tests can help in diagnosing any condition by providing objective information about possible treatments.
All data should ultimately be considered when diagnosing a patient. This will help healthcare professionals develop a plan to address the issue.
