1. Contact Dermatitis is an allergic reaction that results in erythema or edema from contact allergens such as nickel and latex on the skin. This condition can affect any part of the body which has been in direct contact with the allergen. It is usually accompanied by blisters and vesicles. Contact dermatitis is the most common diagnosis. This occurs because of its appearance on the extremities.
2. Psoriasis – This condition is characterized by red, scaly patches of inflammation that cover large areas of the skin. It usually affects the elbows, knees and scalp. In this case, it might also be possible that the symptoms presented were due to psoriasis since although it does not typically affect large areas of skin like what is seen in this graphic (Kumar & Khare 2018), there have been cases reported where extensive involvement occurred (García-Díez et al., 2018).
3. Lichenified Eczema is a thickened, irritated skin condition that can be seen in chronic eczema. It occurs at high friction sites such as joints and extensor surfaces. This could also indicate lichenificaiton. The skin lesions appear thickened, and they are hyperemic. These classic symptoms of this condition can be seen in lichenificaiton.(Ravisankar et al 2012)
Contact dermatitis would be the most likely cause based upon available evidence. This is because of its severe characteristics and common anatomical distribution that occurs predominantly around lower extremities.
