Assignment 3: Performance measures | Business & Finance homework help
The three recent journal articles I have selected are: (1) “Dashboards for Performance Measurement in Healthcare Organizations”, Medical Care Research and Review (2019),
(2) “Using the Balanced Scorecard as an Approach for Quality Improvement in Health Care”, The Ochsner Journal (2017), and (3) “Performance Measurement with Electronic Clinical Data: Challenges & Opportunities”, American Medical Informatics Association Symposium Proceedings (2016). This article contains valuable information on the application of dashboard systems, balanced scorescards and performance measurement strategies within healthcare.
For my four categories of measurement I choose: Clinical Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction, Operational Efficiency/Cost Savings, and Staff Engagement/Retention. Due to the direct correlation between clinical outcomes and ambulatory care units, I can accurately measure success or failure of this unit. These categories are critical when it comes to evaluating any type of healthcare facility. In addition, these metrics will be useful in gauging approval ratings of services. Additionally, operational efficiency/cost saving can be used to determine financial stability for given project. Staff engagement/retention are important aspects that ensure sustainability.
Each measure should be calculated using relevant information from both medical records and other documents, such as cost reports or surveys. This will give a fuller picture of the success of an initiative. Furthermore if analysis were taken broader organizational level more qualitative parameters like productivity levels among clinicians may included provide stronger results tailored towards organization’s overall performance instead individualized departments efforts.
Selecting the right measures will allow us to assess progress towards improvement initiatives. Therefore, it is crucial decide how to gather them. Before proceeding with any further steps make sure that accurate reliable sources can be accessed.
