Discussion: Data collection and variables in research studies
In the article “Health Empowerment among Immigrant Women in Transnational Marriages in Taiwan”, the process for data collection employed was a qualitative approach. The method used was semi-structured interviews with immigrant women who were participants of their country’s marriage migrant programs and had been married to Taiwanese men for over one year. Researchers sought potential participants through inquiries made to local non-governmental organizations that provide assistance for immigrants. Information sessions were held at two locations close to Taipei City as part of data collection. A total of 10 Taiwanese women were enrolled as key informants from which 11 transnational wives participated in semi-structured individual interviews that lasted 45 minutes – 2 hours each. Additionally, 23 wives of transnational origin participated in focus groups discussions about their own health.
Finaly, transcripts with identified quotes were deidentified and produced. They were then analysed using content analysis software. This tool allows for the identification of themes and patterns in code based on previously created codes by researchers who used open coding.
he conclusions drawn from this data collection process is that it is possible to effectively collect information from a target population such as transnational immigrant women via semi-structured interviews coupled with focus group discussions when combined together can yield useful findings regarding health empowerment amongst said individuals providing researchers valuable insights into necessary changes be implemented order make positive difference quality life experience these people who have chosen move countries due search better future themselves families still able maintain connectivity own cultural roots language while simultaneously learning new ways integrating into foreign environment they now live become apart its collective community accept them warmly embrace cultural differences uniqueness makes inspiring thing watch unfold truly beautiful story highlights fact not matter where someone live heart always remain same place doesn’t matter what passport hold has may appear outside person still belongs home turned away regardless reason left behind too many find themselves stranded positions nowhere go try look way out situation turn nothing works fortunately some cases present successful outcomes good note whatever reasons decided risk journey end result being worthwhile enough ensure survival don’t give upon hope no matter hard times due personal strength courage take route less traveled even if means crossing borders migrate abroad .
