Weeks 3, Nursing Project Theories
I chose Dorothea Orem’s Self Care Deficit Theory to analyze my two practice specific concepts: self-care deficit and self care requisites. Orem (1995) says that self-care deficit is when someone has trouble providing adequate personal hygiene activities like bathing, showering, dressing and grooming. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as cognitive or physical impairments or lack of time or energy.
These are the steps required to take in order to fulfill your self-care responsibilities. They also need to be aware of all aspects that can affect you as a human. In clinical settings nurses will use their expertise in applying self care deficits theory by ensuring that patients receive sufficient levels of personalized attention throughout their treatment process – this includes assessing the patient’s level of functioning before assigning appropriate tasks which can then be carried out by either professionally trained staff members or even family members under close supervision depending upon situation factor potential risks along treatment plan put place.
