Reflect on potential opportunities that may exist for RNs and APRNs to participate in the policy-making process.

One opportunity for RNs and APRNs to actively participate in policy-making is through the American Nurses Association (ANA), which sets out to “serve as the professional voice of nursing.” At the state level, nurses can join their respective state’s branch of the ANA and attend meetings regularly. State branches typically review healthcare policy issues that may impact the nursing profession in their region. Involving in political and legislative committees allows nurses to offer input to proposed regulations and bills before they are implemented. These actions can help to make a difference at the grassroots level.

There are also opportunities to network at conferences aimed at improving healthcare policies. These events allow nurses an opportunity to come together with fellow colleagues and discuss current challenges being faced by patients—along with possible solutions—and make connections with other professionals who are also passionate about advocating for public health. Even though there are many opportunities for nurses/APRNs, it is still difficult to effect meaningful change within the policy-making circle due to mainly low visibility. For example, a person might not have enough time to attend meetings due to work obligations or family commitments. Any suggestions will be considered but may not lead directly. As such it recommended alternative strategies implemented so voices heard better utilising social media platforms joining advocacy organisations garnering support communities field getting articles published raise awareness raising funds projects special interests representing people need assistance Regardless whether steps taken organizationally professionally challenging process nevertheless necessary face  (Kashyap Krishnan Kaur Ghai 2019 ).

To overcome these barriers, I suggest two strategies to promote the opportunities for nurses. These include using technology like teleconferencing and webinars. Participating in local communities contributes passion. International conferences seminars discuss theories. Lastly, hosting campaigns draws representatives. Contacting politicians officials to voice concerns is key. This ensures that all voices are heard.
