Advance nursing research (critiquing a quantitative study)
A descriptive cross sectional design was used by the authors to get a quick snapshot of hypertension patients (Dokun–Mowete, et al. 2019). The sample size was 96 people, which were identified using convenience sampling at three rural Nigerian primary healthcare centers (DokunMowete and al. 2019, 2019). Multiple questionnaires were used to collect data, including the dietary quality indicator for hypertensive patients questionnaire which measured salt intake. The Health Belief Model constructeds showed cultural beliefs regarding salt intake. Theory of Reasoned Action challenged perceptions about how normative pressures and external factors impact behaviours. Demographic forms assessed gender, education level residence etc. In order to interpret results researchers employed statistical analysis specifically chi square analysis binary logistic regression tests all data acquired One Way Anova Mann Whitney U Test where needed interpret magnitude association different independent variables outcome measure rates intakes use SPSS program account discrepancies between groups they divided into low medium high categories identify effect each category results interest obtained presented graphical tables forms (Dokun Mowete et al. ).
Qualitative Research: Strengths and Weaknesses
The quantitative study is notable for several reasons. Firstly this research provided an organized approach by utilizing two valid models in studying its objective —HBM TRAP— rather than relying solely one particular theory making findings more robust authentic as interpretations criticisms could be made basis two points view at same time Additionally considered demographics factor complicate matters due socioeconomic cultural differences population sample consisted wide array parameters selected various medical establishments catering needs people diverse backgrounds limited bias selection criteria further increase generalizability results therefore represented larger Nigerian community Moreover used scientifically acceptable testing ascertain validity hypothesis exploratory survey thorough found major weaknesses article looking outside methodological aspects certainly improves content but lack comprehensive literature review makes paper feel rigor required incorporate contemporary data .
Analyzing a Quantitative study
These are my recommendations based on the evaluation of this qualitative research study. First there should have been a more rigorous qualitative component incorporated alongside the existing quantitate techniques so that perhaps insights into why respondents did or did not comply with practices related to salt consumption could be gleaned further thus providing even stronger evidence upon which their hypotheses can stand Thus it is suggested that additional theoretical approaches such as Social Cognitive Theory or Health Promotion Model should be explored given how those will bring different perspectives any conclusions can drawn Also need provide clearer descriptions statistical tests applied ensure understanding readers familiar nontechnical terms Finally better control measures implemented confirm accuracy information provided assessing factors associated degree measurements example generation specific questions asked assess habituation miscalculations data entry errors ( da Silva João & Saldanha Portelada A F ).
