College of Nursing Paper – Conceptual Framework Pillars
Assignment on the Conceptual Framework Pillars of South University College of Nursing.
The South University College of Nursing Conceptual Framework is based on communication. Communication is defined as “the process by which persons transfer both verbal and nonverbal messages to each other” (Vandeweerd & Bartlett, 2017). This pillar is about providing guidelines for nurses to interact with their patients and the other members of healthcare teams in order promote positive outcomes. In this context, communication involves interpersonal relationships that seek to establish trust between individuals while maintain respect for different value systems (Giger & Davidhizar, 2016). Imogene Kings’ nursing theory is the basis of this pillar. King proposed that caring exists within a creative problem solving process designed through professional collaboration utilizing three interacting systems: personal system composed by nurse to patient relationship; interpersonal system focused on roles and relationships between nurse and others; and social system involving nurse’s responsibility towards society (Parker et al., 2015). Effective communication is key to fostering shared governance among healthcare organisations that supports critical thinking skills in a holistic care environment. This will lead towards better patient outcomes.
In conclusion, communication serves as an indispensable cornerstone in SU-CON’s conceptual framework due its necessity in developing trusting relationships within healthcare organizations while fostering professional ethics standards necessary for successful collaborative practice amongst all practitioners involved in providing quality nursing care at optimal levels. It is vital that such pillars be promoted and supported so they can help to assess the competency performance associated with primary prevention-based initiatives in family-centered health promotion.
