The process of making a bill a law
Problem or concern: Low-income families are not able to access affordable, high quality healthcare.
Proposal to establish a publicly subsidized, affordable insurance program that will provide health services for low-income people in the community. These will ensure that those currently without insurance or who are underinsured get the coverage they deserve.
Justification/Rationale: Accessible, quality, and affordable healthcare is a basic human right that should not be denied due to socio-economic status. Because of their low income, many people have difficulty accessing the necessary healthcare services. This can cause further problems or even death. These individuals might also rely on programs funded by the government, such as Medicaid. However, Medicaid has problematic limitations in terms of access to certain kinds of care, making it difficult for them to get the specialized attention that they need. We will ensure that all people, regardless of their social status, have equal access to health care resources. This will result in better living conditions for everyone by creating a public subsidy program.
