Describe the predominate model/theory of leadership used by a leader.

Interview with Dr. Parra. He is an ARNP and has a DNP Family Practice. I have 15 years experience in practice in the United States. His current role is that of a doctor who works with him to monitor vital signs and laboratory results, as well as order new medication. As a leader, Dr. Parra’s style is democratic; he believes strongly in providing shared governance among all parties involved and fostering an environment where collaboration between healthcare professionals is encouraged by actively involving them in decision-making processes at both interprofessional or intradisciplinary levels (Hussman et al., 2017).

Dr. Parra also recognizes the importance of empowering others as well as expecting mutual respect when dealing with issues related to patient care within pharmaceutical/clinical settings (Thompson & Griffin 2016). His involvement with the outside world is evident in his advocacy for better access to preventative healthcare services, particularly those that benefit Hispanic populations within Miami-Dade. Additionally, he teaches local leaders how to reduce potential hazards associated with inadequate resources. Furthermore, Dr. Parra uses evidence-based solutions whenever possible when dealing with organizational issues. These strategies are used in collaboration with team members on specific cases/projects. It fosters an open dialog about the policies to govern these cases.
