Apply leadership concepts, skills, and decision making in the provision of high quality nursing care.

In Practice Setting, Model observed
A team-based approach to nursing care was the predominant model in practice. The model emphasized collaboration among nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. This team-based model emphasizes collaboration and sharing decision making to ensure patients receive high-quality, safe and effective healthcare. Members of the healthcare team worked together to review each patient’s case at daily rounds and develop an individualized plan of care tailored to their needs. My observation showed nurse practitioners working together with physicians, as well as nurses actively participating in education and follow-up visits to provide information about medications or treatments. When necessary, nurses were involved in assessments such as reviewing laboratory results and observing patient conditions over time. There was a clear focus on understanding the patient’s individual needs which allowed for more comprehensive treatment plans that incorporated elements from multiple disciplines within the medical field including pharmacology, social work, dietician services etc.. There was seamless integration among different levels of nursing staff, such as LPNs/LVNs float RNs and others. This allowed for greater utilization of resources while delivering high quality care. It also prevented the loss in productivity due to dividing certain roles. This allows for greater coordination and continuity between shifts. Not only is this beneficial clinically, but also it improves morale of staff because everyone feels part in something greater than their own work environment.
