Many similarities exist between academic ethics and professional ethics. Professional practices involve adhering to established codes of conduct along with the laws which govern them within any given field (De Hoyos & Campbell-Reed , 2018). At the same time scholarly ethics involve considering how one’s decisions might impact stakeholders beyond just their respective field – such as society at large – while conducting research (Grierson & Walls Shiffler, 2011). Each requires individuals to follow ethical guidelines that protect others’ rights and do not compromise their values or beliefs.
Grammarly, a tool that provides proofreading and grammar assistance as well as comprehensive grammar checks for written work can help to maintain integrity (Grammarly Inc. 2019). SafeAssign allows students to verify that their papers are not plagiarising. This makes it easier than ever to find out if there have been any plagiarism issues.(Turnitin LLC. 2019) These two tools greatly improve student outcomes. It allows students to check for plagiarism by manually inspecting the content. This prevents any unexpected situations from being detected.
Academic integrity is crucial to writing. Good writing requires accuracy, objectivity and fairness in order to convey information. It is important to avoid plagiarism in writing. The similarities in professional and academic ethics are that they both use the same ethical principles. They also have some commonalities. These include trust building among various constituents such as employees, shareholders, clients, etc.
