It was a simple question, “What would I like to do with my own life?” That’s how it began for me. After just graduating college, I felt lost and uneasy about the future. Although I was certain that I wanted the world to be better, I wasn’t sure how.
My goal was to travel around the world and gain perspective. Then I started my travels. It was a trip to Thailand, India and Peru.
I faced many difficulties while traveling. There were language and cultural barriers as well as homesickness. I was also surrounded by some of my most resilient and inspiring friends. After seeing firsthand how individuals and groups can impact their communities, I decided that I was ready to make that happen.
A new sense of purpose was what I brought back with me. My decision was to return to school in order to continue my studies in international development, and to pursue a career as a nonprofit worker.
