It is their responsibility to shape the future of their students. Because of the demands placed on their jobs, instructors and teachers are more susceptible to substance abuse. If not addressed, the workplace of professionals can be a source of constant stress that may lead to dysfunctional behaviour. Teachers may resort to drugs when under stress at work (Margaret and al. 19). 19). Teachers can be seen as leaders and fighters against student drug abuse, which makes it difficult for them to use drugs in their classrooms. Teachers using drugs may hinder efforts to combat drug misuse. It could even encourage drug abuse in students. It is possible for teachers with substance abuse problems to fail their classroom duties. Teachers who use drugs to enhance their performance as educators can also be less effective in fighting student drug abuse. The academic success of teachers and the institutions they work for is affected by their drug use. Society often holds professors and teachers in high regard. Many people assume that teachers are perfect. Drug addiction not only tarnishes the teaching profession but also hinders the delivery of instruction. Students may see a drop in achievement as a result of teachers who are more addicted to drugs. By imitating professors, students may be influenced by their drug usage. Teachers and other instructors using drugs is an issue that affects the entire education industry. All stakeholders need to be aware of it. The use of drugs by teachers should be banned as it would contaminate schools’ reputations as places for information dissemination. The care of children as young as three-years old is the responsibility of teachers (Kearns 2). To normalize drug abuse in front of young children would be reckless. Uninhibited teachers in the classroom could send the wrong message about drug dependence to older students, such as teenagers. The prevalence of drugs among teachers should alarm parents and school officials, along with law enforcement. Teaching is supposed to reflect the best of human nature and be an example for others. Education institutions exist to impart information to students. Professors who are addicted to drugs may have a significant impact on the information students learn from their school. Students may feel tempted to use the drug. Everybody, including children and government officials should be worried about instructors using drugs.
